Hi everyone! I was recently asked this question, "Does Omega 3 Fish Oil raise your LDL cholesterol?" I really like this answer from Livestrong.com.
Please note that even though they may slightly raise your LDL they have a beneficial effect on the LDL and the oxidation of those particles inside the blood.
Enjoy!

The companies that make many of the popular sports drinks would like us and our children to think that we all need those drinks when we exercise. The truth is, I would only recommend sports drinks for heavy trainers and athletes (i.e., marathon runners, Olympic athletes, people who bicycle for miles and miles in a day, people who produce a lot of sweat when they exercise, etc). For the rest of us, water is the best drink for hydrating. Did you know that chocolate milk is the best recovery drink? |

Hi everyone! For today, if you catch yourself saying something negative about yourself, say something positive in return. Try to become aware of these thoughts. Even if you are at a higher weight than what you desire, remember you are still a wonderful person with some wonderful attributes. And smile- think of all that you have to be thankful for.

Diets don't work. Why? We go on them, we go off them, back on, try another one, etc. How about adapting a healthier way of living, a healthier lifestyle?
This means that you will need to stock up on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lower fat meat or other proteins (chicken, fish, beans, peanuts, tofu, other nuts) and lowfat dairy. Keep healthy items stocked in your kitchen. Have carrot sticks, apple slices, chopped celery, fresh berries, orange slices, etc around when you just want to munch on something. |

Quick Tip: Check your dried fruit to see if it has any added sugar in it! Just look at the ingredients list. Dried fruit should be just that, dried fruit. Some food companies will add sugar to the dried fruit- and who needs any more added sugars, especially when you are supposed to be just getting dried fruit!!!
Enjoy!

Ever notice how much more stuff you come home with when you shop with the kids? Here are some tips to get through the grocery store trip without getting too much of the stuff you don't want in the house.
If you are able, promise them if they behave they can get a small magazine or book (some of them are 3.99). This is better than promising food as a reward.
If they like to pick things out give them a choice of healthy items- for instance- do you want the Kix, The Cheerios or The Wheaties? |

Quick tip: What I mean by "What Is Your Food Doing For You" is, what are you eating? Are you going to feel energized after it, or is it going to drag you down? If you eat more of the foods that are energizing (proteins, whole grains, fruits and vegetables) you will end up feeling better. So when you are looking at that sugar cookie at about 4:00- think "How will I feel after this?" Will I feel energized or will it drag me down? If you grab some fruit and a handful of nuts you are going to feel better- or whole grain cereal, milk and fruit; yogurt and fruit- you get the picture. |
