I love the Larabar protein bars for a quick snack on the go. Why? The ingredients are so simple. The sweetness comes not from sugar but from dates! For instance the peanut butter cookie ones have the following ingredients: dates, peanuts and sea salt. The apple pie bars have dates, almonds, unsweetened apples, walnuts, raisins and cinnamon. The cashew cookie ones have cashews and dates (these are my favorite). There are many other flavors as well. I recommend the simpler less sweet ones, not the ones with chocolate.
Calories? They have about 200-220. May seem like a lot, but it is a complete snack if you are on the go. A nice balance of carbohydrates and protein to fill you up and not leave you tired. Where to find them? Many of the big chain supermarkets carry them. Sometimes you will find them in the vitamin section, where all the other protein bars are (Luna, Cliff, etc.)
And no, I am not being paid by Larabar here. I just really like these and wanted to recommend them as a protein bar option!
