I don't care if they call them fruit- I call them candy! Fruit Roll Ups and Fruit Snacks usually contain a minimal amount of fruit juice and then guess what? Yes! Sugar. Even if there are kinds with no sugar added they should still be counted as sticky juice. You will not get the fiber you would get from fruit from these treats. In addition, they contribute to tooth decay.
Best solution? If your child has one, think of it as candy. Let them have it for a treat at home, then they should brush their teeth. Best not to have it at school since it will be sitting on the teeth all day until they get home. If it's given to them at school for a treat encourage your child to rinse well with water when done.
