With winter here and many people needing antibiotics I thought I would give you some additional info on pre pro and antibiotics. Here is an article from the Mayo Clinic which defines prebiotics and probiotics and whether they are necessary or not. I do want to add that antibiotics, which should only be taken when necessary, as determined by your doctor, not only wipe out the bacteria that is causing your illness but also wipe out the good bacteria. That is why it may be beneficial to supplement with prebiotics and probiotics, while taking the antibiotic. In addition, I do believe that it is a good idea to try and get healthy bacteria in the gut on a daily basis, preferably from yogurt. The yogurt should state that it contains live and active cultures.
